The popularity of the Glass Bead in India is
growing worldwide, but there is little demand
in India. Most bead-making businesses are
closing their doors and selling their beads on
the internet. Furthermore, despite the fact that
many people are interested in this ancient
craft, there is not much demand for it.
Besides, the Chinese have found ways to
make them cheaper. Hence, the major
problem of the Glass Bead in the country is
the lack of demand.
The Glass Bead in India was first introduced in the university region of Varanasi. Then, it moved
to another region near Firozabad, which is renowned for its vast glass industry. In Purdilnagar,
furnace wound beads have been a long-standing tradition. The furnaces in this area can
accommodate up to twenty individual glass workers. Millefiori beads and large beaded pieces
with swirls of color are also made from scrap glass.
