Ivermectin is an antiparasitic medication that is commonly used to treat certain parasitic infections in humans and animals. It is available in various strengths, including 12 mg tablets. However, the use of ivermectin for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 has generated a lot of attention and controversy.

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, while ivermectin has been approved for specific medical uses, its use for COVID-19 was not universally supported by health authorities and medical organizations. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had not recommended its use for treating or preventing COVID-19 outside of clinical trials.
