That sounds like a great project, peter2cfu! Building an environmental monitor with an M5Stack is a perfect way to get started with IoT. The light tower sounds like a cool addition for a quick visual status check. There are some great tutorials out there for M5Stack and ESP32 that should help you get going with the sensors and coding. @ajb2k3 Found the answer after a long time down the rabbit hole. It was not possible for me with the current blockly code. Changing to the python window, however, and incorporating the ujson functions that were taught in the weather app tutorial on youTube, I was able to get it done.

Just was not able to get it done with available blockly. Now, the issue is that my UI Flow program completely eradicated my fix every time I exit. It won't save the correct code because it was done in the python window.

So, I can't recreate it easily.

Is there any tutorial for this project?

I found the original creator on twitter and he let me know that the lock in the video is a Sesame from Candy House. [EN readers scroll to bottom and toggle menu in right corner]

The depicted usage from M5StickC is over WiFi via HTTP API (so it does go through a cloud gateway) - total cost is just barely over $200 USD with that additional cost.

Huge advantage to the Sesame lock is that it goes over your current deadbolts, no need to remove existing door hardware at all. (I basically replaced the handle set and deadbolt when installing the smart lock I have now...)

I guess power is reason they dont just put an ESP32 in the dang lock... and security is why you cant just connect bluetooth from any old dev board, just locked down smart phones... My preference is that I do not believe hardware providers will securely and permanently provide service of remote unlock. Do you mail a copy of your house key to your Alarm company? No...

To fix issues with M5Burner on Mac, ensure you’ve installed the correct USB-to-serial drivers (like CP210x or CH340). Run M5Burner using Rosetta if needed. Allow app permissions via System Settings > Privacy & Security. Always download the latest M5Burner version compatible with your mac.
