M5 paper not receiving any espnow broadcast data

I have an M5paper and a M5 core communicating over espnow
When sending broadcast messages from a M5paper they are received on the M5 core. But not the other way aroundI used exactly the same ui flow for both devices but can't get it to work both are connected to wifi both say sending/data sent. Only the M5 core is also receiving the messages sent from the M5paper. M5paper is able to sent but does not receive anything.
