The Norwegian Football Association is considering the possibility of abandoning the video assistance system for referees (VAR). According to sources, the issue will be discussed at the football congress, which will be held in March 2025. The final decision on the fate of VAR will depend on the vote of the congress participants: if the majority votes for repeal, the system will be abolished.

Until then, a working group will be formed, whose task is to carefully study the pros and cons of using VAR in Norwegian football. The group will include representatives of various parties: clubs, fans, players, coaches and referees. It will be headed by an independent expert, which should ensure the objectivity of the analysis.
