Percussion instruments are musical tools that produce sound when struck, shaken, or scraped. They come in various shapes, sizes, and materials — from simple hand-held instruments to complex orchestral setups. The family of percussion instruments is vast and diverse, ranging from traditional drums and tambourines to xylophones, marimbas, and timpani.
At HNMC, students are introduced to both tuned and untuned percussion instruments, helping them understand rhythm, pitch, and tone. Tuned instruments like the xylophone or glockenspiel produce specific notes, while untuned ones like cymbals or snare drums create rhythmic effects that add texture to music.
