Dr. Humberto Gonzalez is a native Texan who was born in Laredo on July 13, 1947. After joining the Rondels at the age of 17, he pursued a career in music teaching, working as a music educator and band director in Laredo, Alice, and Hebbronville, Texas. He served as principal and school administrator at Mirando City ISD, United High School, and Hebbronville High School before joining the faculty at Texas A&M International University and eventually rising to the post of Dean of the College of Education. He spent forty-three years in school overall. After retiring, he was named Professor Emeritus by the Board of Regents of Texas A&M University System.
