The mode of action of Filitra 20 mg involves blocking the PDE5 enzyme in the penile tissue. Normally, PDE5 breaks down a molecule called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which is responsible for relaxing smooth muscles in the blood vessels of the penis. By inhibiting PDE5, Filitra allows cGMP to accumulate, which causes the smooth muscles to relax and the blood vessels to dilate, resulting in increased blood flow to the penis during sexual arousal. This facilitates the development and maintenance of an erection when sexual stimulation occurs.
