The thickness of neoprene matters too. Most thermal swim caps are between 2 mm to 4 mm thick. A thicker cap gives more warmth, but it might feel a little heavier. If you swim in very cold water, a 3 mm or 4 mm cap is better. If the water is only mildly cold, 2 mm should be fine.
