I'm looking for a controller that accepts 5v through GROVE. This is to use it with a heat pump that sends 5v over the 5v line. I know the Atom S3 Lite does. I would be particularly interested in either the M5stickC Plus 2 and the Nano C6. Now I have some basic knowledge of schematics but I can't decide wether these can be powered over GROVE. I looked up all schematics.

      Atom S3 Lite schematics
      M5StickC Plus2 schematics
      Nano C6 schematics

I can't read the schematics well enough to decide wether the Stick and Nano can be powered over GROVE. If I look at the Atom S3 Lite schematics I see the GROVE port is wired differently. But that's all I can conclude. It would be great if anyone could help me in wether the Stick and Nano are fit for my purpose and how you came to that conclusion so I can learn from it. Thanks!

        Hello @amateur58

as you already found out M5AtomS3 can be powered via 5 V through Grove. The same is true for M5NanoC6 as VBUS (from USB-C) is connected to 5 V of the Groove port.

However M5StickCPlus2 is different as it has a dedicated 5 V IN and 5 V OUT. It can only be powered via 5 V IN (which is not on the Grove port).

        Thanks
        Felix

Thanks! How did you see that in the schematic for the M5StickC Plus2?

            Hi @amateur58

you need to open the PDF of the schematic, else you don't see all of it. +5VOUT going to the Grove port comes out of U6 going through diode D20. So if you were to feed 5 V to the Grove port it would end at the diode.

            Thanks

@felmue Thank you! I learned something today by downloading the PDF's and applying what you explained :)
